A good bitless bridle needs to be fitted correctly if you want it to work correctly and be comfortable for your horse. Its different parts need to sit in the correct position so that pressure is applied where the bridle was designed to act. Horses have very different head shapes and proportions, which means that standard Pony, Cob, Full or Over sizes do not always provide the right fit.

This is very important with bitless equipment. Depending on whether you use a sidepull, hackamore or another bitless system, the position of the noseband and other parts of the bridle influences both comfort and the way the rein aids are transmitted. Even the best anatomical bitless bridle will harm your horse if the size and fitting is wrong.

Two horses that normally wear the same standard bridle size can have completely different proportions. One may have a broad forehead and short cheeks, while another has a longer, narrower head. The circumference and shape of the nose can also vary significantly.

A Handmade Bitless Bridle in Your Own Colours

Customisation can also make your bridle genuinely personal. Traditional black and brown leather remain popular choices, but there is no reason why high-quality leather horse tack has to be limited to these colours. A personalized bitless bridle can be made in red, pink, green and many other leather colours. You can also choose the colours of the padding and stitching, creating anything from a subtle combination to a bright and unique design. For example, you may prefer classic brown leather with green padding, black leather with contrasting stitching, or a completely colourful bridle.
