A bronc noseband is a decorated wide leather noseband for rope, nylon or leather halter. In saddle bronc riding, the wide noseband spreads out pressure evenly across the horse muzzle. This allows riders to pull on the bronc rein for balance without choking or sharply restricting the horse’s ability to buck. But today many rides use it just because it is beautiful piece of horse tack. Its shape and rich decorations gives the halter a bold Western look. You may see bronc halters at shows, western riding competitions and rodeos, but owners also use them for daily barn live.

The noseband still needs to sit in the right place and fit the horse properly. Regular tack shops offer just a few standard sizes and quite ofter it is not what your horse really needs.

Can you order a blank bronc halter noseband?

Yes. A blank bronc halter noseband is a wide leather panel without conchos, lettering or other decoration. You can leave it plain for a clean look or use it as a base for your own artwork. For example, you might want to add a painted design, your horse’s name or your ranch logo later.

“Blank” does not have to mean a standard shape or size. We can make a plain bronc noseband to the measurements you need and finish its edges so it is ready to use. If you already have a decoration in mind but want us to make it, send us a sketch or a reference photo. We can discuss the colours and details before making your order.

How to choose the right size

Before ordering, look at the halter you plan to use. Measure the distance between the points where the bronc noseband will attach. A rope halter, a nylon halter and a leather halter may need different attachment part wideness. If you are unsure what to measure, send us a message, we will be happy to help!

Also consider the shape of your horse’s nose. A broad noseband needs enough room to lie smoothly without pressing against the cheekbones or sitting too low on the soft part of the nose. A custom size is especially useful for horses whose head proportions do not match standard tack sizes.
